A Positive Approach

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)

The above scripture reminds us of keeping positive whatever happens in life.

Sometimes you come across negative and discouraged people, whether colleagues at work, or people from the different walks or different circles you go in.  We all know such people, as this is very common.  I, like most of you, have many connections.

Being jealous and bitter is not good for the soul! It brings you down, makes you feel negative and discouraged.  Most are only passing moods, but you come across people who just ‘don’t get it’, who are bitter about everything and think the world owes them something, with a ‘That’s not fair’ attitude.  The majority of people in the UK are very prosperous and ‘rich’ compared to war-torn counties and third-world countries where hunger and famine are common, and we sometimes need reminding to count our blessings instead of complaining.  The Easy to Read Bible renders the above verse as, “Above all, be careful what you think because your thoughts control your life.”

It is impossible to live through life without being sometimes struck by people’s negative and selfish attitudes, but as Christians we must try to be positive, give the benefit of the doubt and avoid being judgmental.  If we see injustice we can seek to help, but if we can’t help, we can still pray and seek God’s help in any situation.

God created us all different, which is super and can make life exciting at times. If we were all the same it would not be good either.

The best gift is Jesus Christ.  We all need encouragement, and we need to pray for the people that have not found Christ yet.

Our great God, at this time in our world, we pray for each and every one of your people.  Times are heavy with burdens, stress and worries, but we pass it all to you as our heavenly creator. Thanks be to God.
