Who Loves Ya, Baby?

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son.”
(John 3:16) (NIV)

The famous Kojak saying “So who loves ya baby?” can accurately capture the way we sometimes feel – lost and very much alone.  We can often feel God has gone away and we have been deserted, and usually just when we feel we need him most.

Why is this?  Why does God sometimes seem not to care?

It may seem that way but it is not actually so.  There is nothing more precious to God than you, and there is never a time when he does not care.

So what is happening then?

It is so easy to make the mistake of thinking we can see all that is going on.  But we only see things from our perspective.  God is viewing a much bigger picture of us.  And an important part of that bigger picture is our faith in him.

The apostle Peter tells us; “… that the genuineness of your faith, being more precious than gold that perishes…” is of immense value.  The reliance on faith is part of what God is forming in us.  When we can see the end of a matter we do not need faith, we have sight.  When we do not have sight we must rely on the faith that God has given us.  But you know, we are all a bit afraid of the dark.  However, it is in the dark that our faith in God grows.  Faith is what we exercise and rely on when we cannot see, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)

So when we feel God is not there, remember nothing could be further from the truth; he is there and he is providing an opportunity for us to grow in the faith he has given us.

Who loves ya baby? God does and always will!

Prayer
Father in heaven thank you that you are involved in creating in me all that you desire to be there, even the things I cannot see and sometimes don’t understand. Encourage me to exercise that faith you have given me and to rest assured and comforted that I am precious to you beyond my comprehension.
Amen
