Your Move

“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)

A game of chess is played with a number of carved figures which are used to protect the king at all costs. Thankfully, our King protects us at all costs, even when it cost His life.

However, that’s not the point I wanted to focus on today. Instead, remove all the carved pieces and look at the board upon which the game is played. It’s made up of sixty-four squares. Those squares can’t be changed, but your view of them can be.  Walking from the side, which is the normal view, to the corner, you’ll now see diamonds instead of squares.

My point? Some things in life can’t be changed, such as situations or people. So if we can’t change those circumstances and they are having a negative effect, assuming we can’t walk away completely, we can walk to the corner of the chess board and see diamonds instead of squares. That is what Paul did when he had a problem and Jesus didn’t remove it.

The concept is simple enough but the walk from side to corner can be long and foggy, or both which makes the going tough. However, with the King guiding our footsteps we can, and will, get there when necessary. Just as Jesus helped Paul see things differently by reminding him that His grace was enough, so He will help us to adjust our viewpoint.

Do you need to take a walk to turn the negative squares into brighter diamonds?

Dear Father, thank you for Jesus, our King. Thank you also that He guides us through life and, when necessary, from the side to the corner, changing our perspective.
