Bless This House

“By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.”
Proverbs 24:3-4 (NIV)

As a child of God we have blessed lives and because of God’s grace also bring a blessing to others. Yes, even when we are suffering! Our house, or areas of influence, are often far greater than we appreciate. We are always been watched, so let it be for the good that is done in all our spheres of influence:

Our homes must be centres of worship to God and service to others.  Charity really does begin at home with our family and then reaching out to others to draw them into loving godly relationships. How about a party, Bible Study or games night in our home?  “Be ready with a meal or a bed when it’s needed. Why, some have extended hospitality to angels without ever knowing it!” (Hebrews 13:2 Message)

Our place of worship must be a beacon lighting the path of people back to our God.  The church is not static but is actively reaching out to bring knowledge and a blessing to those estranged from their Maker. Do we invite people to enter into fellowship with God, so they can know the One who is love?  2 Samuel 7:29 says, “Now be pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue for ever in your sight; for you, Sovereign Lord, have spoken, and with your blessing the house of your servant will be blessed for ever.”

The other place where we live, spending a lot of our time is “at work.”  So whatever we do to earn a living or in our retirement, it must bring a blessing to others because we know we do it due to the love of God in our hearts.  We do the right thing and set a good example that we hope will inspire and encourage others while bringing praise to God.

“And I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ.” Philemon 6 (NLT)

Loving Father, we ask you to continue to bless our houses.  Our desire is to honour your name and work to bring others to your glory. In Jesus’ name.
