Little Children

“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.”
2 Peter 3:18 (KJV)

Little children are God’s amazing way of creating new people. They are a wonderful blessing. Mine are now full-grown, but they had lots of growing to do, physically, mentally and emotionally, as we all did; maybe you can remember your own growing up pains.

My daughter had growing pains as did my brother, who grew 6” in less than a year! Sometimes the bones grow quicker than the muscles, hence the pain. The mental and emotional growth can be just as painful.

We, also, can have growing pains spiritually. The flesh doesn’t want to give up and can, like the muscles, cause us pain if we are growing spiritually and quickly. We won’t lose the flesh until we die, but while we don’t enjoy pain, it can be an encouraging sign of healthy spiritual growth.

And, just as little children need good food to nourish and support their physical growth, we need spiritual food to support and nourish our growth ~ both the food of the Bible and, as He said, of Jesus as well.

Dear Father, thank you for Jesus, and that we can feed on him and the Bible to gain healthy, spiritual growth. Please help us to not fear the pain that sometimes comes with it, but rather to see it as an encouragement. Thank you.
