Looking Out!

If He were to turn his thoughts inwards and withdraw his life-giving spirit, all flesh would perish on the instant, all mortals would turn again to dust.”
Job 34:14 (The Revised English Bible)

How wonderful is the truth of these words Elihu spoke to Job. They were among the first of many in a speech which led Job to see God more clearly and change his attitude.

Job had troubles and woes indeed. We might say he had good reason to be depressed! Read the chapter. Yet with Elihu’s help he learned to get over it.

We are here because God looks outward. He is love. He is the giver of all good gifts and He never stops being this way (1John 14; James1:17).

Jesus looked outward even on the cross when he said, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34).

Our God is so far above us. We, who tend to look inwards, get depressed and harbour a host of negative feelings. But Jesus lives to help us turn around and look outwards with Him. Lets thank God and ask for help to keep looking out!

Prayer
We thank you, God, for your love and that you keep looking out for us.  Help us to turn around and not to be inward focused but to look out for others,
Amen

    Hello Elizabeth
Thank you for today’s Day By Day – a timely reminder (for me) that God is always working on our behalf even when we face difficult times.
    Kind Regards
