Power Source

“And what is the exceeding greatness of His power towards us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.”
Ephesians 1:19 (NKJV)

In the above scripture, Paul prayed that we would know the exceeding greatness of God’s power towards us. God’s power is greater than any other power in the universe, and it is limitless. God is powerful, and anyone who believes in God surely believes that, but do we believe His power is available to us and that it exists for us?

Being able to live power-filled lives starts when we do believe this power is available to us. We all received this power when we received the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38 says, “Then Peter said to them repent and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”  That Holy Spirit is the spirit of power, as it says in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

We do not need to strive for power or hope to have power someday; we have power now! The same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead lives in us. Read it in Romans 8:11: “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”

This is not a one-time filling that slowly drains out of us as the days go by.  We can be filled day by day, and even moment by moment.  It says in 2 Corinthians 4:16 that “the inward man is being renewed day by day.”

We can constantly, and continually, experience God’s presence and power in our lives. When we belong to Him, there is never a time when His power is not accessible to us. We have to pay for power that lights and heats our homes, but the power for life eternal is free. The price has been paid for us by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ!

Father, God, please help us to remember that your power is always available to us, and all that we have to do is to ask and believe.
