Teach Me Your Ways

“Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Saviour, and my hope is in you all day long. Remember, O LORD, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways.”
Psalm 25:4-7 (NIV)

The Son of God, Jesus Christ, came to earth in human form to show us his ways (without all the appendages which man has added down through the ages).   And he took our sins upon himself (1 Peter 2:24), paying the price of death (“For the wages of sin is death” Romans 6:23) by dying in our place so that all our sins could be forgiven.

Accepting Jesus Christ as our Saviour, allows us to begin a new life with a clean slate.  Jesus said to the sinful woman, “Your sins are forgiven…. Your faith has saved you; go in peace” (Luke 7:48, 50).

Jesus says the same to us today when we repent of our old ways (and endeavour not to sin again) and accept Him as our Saviour.

Jesus’ summary of the ten commandments (Exodus 20) are to (1) Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind, (2) Love your neighbour as yourself (Matthew 22:37-39).

Loving God is our number one priority, and if everyone loved those around them, there would be no hatred which leads to so many problems in this world.  Weekly we hear of young people being stabbed to death through gang hatred.   Daily we hear of greed, corruption, theft, murders, adultery, child abuse, wars, and so it goes on.

The whole world is in a mess and man seems unable to bring peace and love to it.  Many of the world’s ills could be solved if more of us followed the ways Jesus indicates to us.

Prayer
Loving heavenly Father, show us the right way to live so that we can be examples to others.  Help us not to be distracted by our daily temptations which take our thoughts away from you.  May your kingdom soon come, so there can be peace on earth.
Amen

God has a name. It is Jehovah, and appeared in all the scrolls of old over 7000 times before the Jews took it out and replaced it with GOD and LORD due to their superstitions. Why don’t you use His name???? How can you have a personal relationship with Him if you never use His name???? Do you always call your husband or children by titles, Sir, Mister, son, girl, boy, hey you???? How close would your relationship be with anyone if you never used their name??? It is the first thing we do when we meet anyone is to ask their name, isn’t it???? Names are very important, and Jehovah wants us to be on a first name basis with Him.

Got something to say?
