Led By The Spirit

“Then Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let every one be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’”
Acts 2:38 (NKJV)

Jesus paid the price for all our sins by dying in our place on the cross. The Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead on the third day. Death had now been defeated!!

When Jesus returned to the Father He sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in His disciples on the Day of Pentecost. Acts 2:1-4 says: “When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

Since that time, the Holy Spirit dwells in everyone who accepts Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Everyone who receives the gift of the Holy Spirit has also received the gift of eternal life! The Holy Spirit is not limited to time and space, for He is eternal and can never die! When we belong to Jesus we are not limited to time and space, for we are connected to the spiritual realm.

We need not fear the future, for God is greater than any problem we may have to face and He will give us the victory! In Matthew 19:26, “Jesus looked at them and said to them, ‘With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

John 5:24 says, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has eternal life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” When we believe in Jesus and receive the Holy Spirit we already have eternal life. What wonderful news that is!

Father God, help us to realise that when we received the gift of the Holy Spirit we also received the gift of Eternal Life.
