Walk As People Of Light

“For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord.  So live as people of light!”
Ephesians 5:8 (NLT)

People who don’t know God don’t see any danger because they are in the dark about the consequences of sin and can’t see the right way to live.

Daylight reveals certain paths we walk on could lead to difficulties, injury and even death if walked on in the dark.  In the same way, the light of God’s Word that we have received shows us some of the spiritually dangerous dark paths we walk on.

The light of God’s Spirit shows us that we are to “have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.” (Ephesians 5:11 NKJV).  Living a life of light is the most powerful way we can show we have finished with sin.  “For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.”  (Ephesians 5:9).

“Look carefully then how you walk!  Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people), Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil.”  (Ephesians 5:15-16 AMP)

“But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from all sin.”  (1 John 1:7).

Then, Matthew 5:14-16 tells us, “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden…let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”

Prayer
Thank you, Father, for giving us the light of your Word and showing us the path you want us to walk on so we can be lights to others.
Amen
