Why I Hate Sin!

“But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 6:22-23 (NIV)

Sin separates us from God and our destiny so I hate it with a passion. It cost the life of my Saviour to pay the price that was deserved. That sin enslaves us, keeping us in bondage and suffering, which leads to broken lives and relationships.

In my life I was once on the road to death, corruption and destruction, because of the mind of the flesh which dominated my thinking. When I look back I see how it was a cruel master which kept me bound, making me an enemy of God. So I deserved death. Thanks to God, however, he became a curse for me, paying the price of all my wrongs and condemned sin. He went to Calvary willingly for me. In His Sovereign grace He gave me repentance, His Spirit, and set me free to live a new life in Christ. I am reconciled, restored and forgiven, enjoying a relationship with Him.

The cost of sin was high: separation from God, guilt, shame, envy, jealousy, anger and much more. Those close to me have also suffered due to my sin and that of others for which I am truly sorry. Jesus paid that debt of love for all. So now I am surrendered to His will for me and others. The old me is dead.

When I look at the bigger picture, I grieve for the world and the terrible things that happen due to the rejection of God. Society is filled with fighting, killing, hatred, greed, oppression, etc. God is rarely, if ever, in the home, school or business. The world is in a mess.

Daily I pray for my family, the world and the church. My prayer is that all may come to a fuller knowledge of Jesus, our Saviour, so we all can be forgiven, enjoy real freedom, and live. Also, that we see sin for what it really is, and it’s true, terrible cost.

Never forget, always remember that Jesus has overcome sin, death and the enemy. He has won the victory which we actively share.

Thank you, Father, for loving us so very much. Your kingdom come so your will is done everywhere. In Jesus’ name.
