You Can Win

“‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,’ says the LORD.  ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.’”
Isaiah 55:8-9 (NKJV)

I loved games as a child.  Growing up, I really enjoyed the winter evenings (no TV, only the Radio to listen to) when we would get out the draughts and play.  My brother, being four years older than I, was far better at playing draughts, and always won the game.  Until one evening, as my Dad sat beside me and watched me play.  He could see I was losing the game, so he told me to move in certain places and I wondered what he was doing.  Then he told me to give one of my draughts away to my brother.  I thought to myself, ‘Why am I doing this?’, but I didn’t say anything and I just did it.  My Dad said often, that move made the way for me to clean the board, and I won the game.

This reminds me of my Heavenly Father—how much more he takes care of us and at times gives us the moves in our lives and shows us we can have the victory through Jesus Christ.  Sometimes the things he tells us to do seem the opposite of what we need, but are the things that lead to our victory—like turning the other cheek and loving our enemies.  His thoughts are not our thoughts and his ways truly are much higher than our ways.  What a wonderful thought for all of us.

Prayer
Dear Father, thank you for caring for each one of us.  You give us hope, strength and the power to keep on going to fulfil your plan for us.  You give us the desires of our heart.
Amen

Thank you ladies for that thought-provoking analogy about the ‘Game of Life’…if I can put it that way. With God on our side, no obstacle is too great to us winning the ‘prize’ that we are called to. A great contribution, and hope you will contribute some more.

Got something to say?
