Like A Bird In A Cage

“… strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. ‘We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,’ they said.”
Acts 14:22 (NIV)

I was trapped. There seemed to be no way out for me and I was powerless to resist what was going to happen. It was difficult to pray but I knew that I needed help that was totally beyond me. My friends seemed distant and I was in a lonely, vulnerable and dark place.  I felt like the Psalmist in 30:8-10, “To you, O Lord, I called; to the Lord I cried for mercy:  ‘What gain is there in my destruction, in my going down into the pit?  Will the dust praise you?  Will it proclaim your faithfulness? Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me; O Lord, be my help.’”

Have you ever been there?

This scenario had been developing for some time.  Then suddenly out of the blue a miracle happened.  My salvation appeared in a way that I thought was impossible. Simply, it had to be God.  He was not only working for and on me, but on the other parties.  He was also actively in the middle, working to reconcile the sides.

So I woke on Tuesday waiting for the end of all I held dear. By the end of the day I was happy, free, wiser and forgiven.  That night I was able to sleep like a baby. I was thankful that God is God and he loves me (and you). He makes a way when there is no way.  Again, like the Psalmist in 30:11-12, “You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing to you and not be silent.  O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever.” Psalm 30:11-12

Father, thank you for carrying me in my times of difficulty and not leaving me even when I rebel. Help me to appreciate you more each day. In Jesus wonderful name.
