“He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.”
Psalms 103:12 (NLT)

Before we were converted and became Christians, there was no hope for us unless God intervened and brought us life where we faced only death.  “But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace you have been saved!)” Ephesians 2:4-5.

God forgives sin only because of the death of Jesus Christ, His son, and that was the reason He came.  “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” (2 Corinthians 5:21).  And when Christ died on the cross, he said:  “It is finished!” (John 19:30).  He was the “Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29).  Everyone is included.

Paul tells Agrippa that he was sent by Jesus to preach forgiveness of sins to the Gentiles (Acts 26:17, 18) and 1 John 2:2 tell us, “He (Jesus) himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.”

Isaiah 46:4 (AMP) says, “Even to your old age I am He, and even to hair white with age will I carry you.  I have made, and I will bear; yes, I will carry you and will save you.”

When we forgive it is for our sake too.  We must totally forgive others who have hurt us and only then will we be free.  Colossians 3:13 tells us, “Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you.  Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.”  As far as east is from the west is limitless.  Philippians 1:6 tells us that “God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”

Thank you so much, Father, that there is forgiveness with you, and that we can come to you any time and plead for your mercy and help.  In Jesus’ name.
