The Blood Of The Lamb

“He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.”
Colossians 1:20 (NTL)

The only thing that can save man from the power of sin is Christ’s blood. What gives Christ’s blood this power?  The New Testament tell us that “Under the old system the blood of goats and bulls…could not cleanse peoples’ bodies from ceremonial impurity. Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our conscience from sinful deeds…” (Hebrews 9:13-14).

John 1:29 tells us it is “The Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world”; “For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness” (Hebrews 9:22). We have been rescued and delivered from sin through Christ’s blood (Colossians 1:14).

“If we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us of all sin” (1 John 1:7).

When a slave was released someone paid money. We were slaves of sin and God paid for us with the blood of His Son. 1 Peter 1:18-19 says, “And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.” “For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness” (Hebrews 9:22). We are not our own we have been bought and paid for by the blood of Christ.

“And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus” (Hebrews 10:19). “For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water” (verse 22).

Jesus blood “…has ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation” (Revelation 5:9).

Thank you, Father, for allowing the sacrifice of your Son. Please help us to follow his example and never forget that He has paid for us by shedding His blood.
