Come To Me

“Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.’”
Matthew 11:28 (NLT)

When you look at some of the things happening in the world, it is not surprising that many people are anxious, worried, afraid and even depressed .  We look around, and see the news in the papers and on the television and it seems that evil people often seem to get away with so much.  It sometimes seems that life isn’t fair.  But then we can remember that God is in control and He knows the right time to intervene.  John 14:6 says, “I am the way, the truth and the life…”

Isaiah 55:3 tell us, “Come to me with your ears wide open.  Listen and you will find life…”  Come means to act.  “Come, let us return to the Lord…He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of the dawn or the coming of rains in early spring.”  (Hosea 6:1, 3.  “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”  Luke 19:10.

Jesus says, “Take my yoke upon you.  Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”  (Matthew 11:29.  Jesus has freed us from all burdens of life, including weariness, fear, and worry, and he gives us rest.  “Though we are overwhelmed by our sins, you forgave them all.”  Psalm 65:3.  We look forward to the time when God will wipe away every tear spoken of in Revelation 7:17.

Thank you, Father, for encouraging us and for those who walk beside us and give us encouragement
