Night Vision

“Or suppose I said, ‘I’ll hide in the dark until night comes to cover me over.’ But you see in the dark because daylight and dark are all the same to you.”
Psalm 139:11-12 (CEV)

If a person wanted to walk in the dark with only a guide wearing night vision glasses, that person would need to have complete trust in that guide, in his ability to see that he was leading him in the right direction. It would be similar to a blind person learning to have complete trust in his guide dog, in its ability to steer him in the right direction and clear of any danger.

And so it is with us as we walk through this dark world. We can’t see for ourselves the way to walk, or hazards along the way, but we have a Guide who can. He has even better sight than the guide with night vision glasses because He can see as clear as day. He is an even better guide than the brilliant guide dog because He can talk with us on the way.

He loves us so much that He died for us. We can trust Him because He is faithful, wanting us to stay on the right path. We can hold His hand, lean on Him securely, “for He has said, ‘Not at all will I leave you, not at all will I forsake you,’ never!” Hebrews 13:5 (LITV)

Dear Father, thank You for sending Jesus, Your Son and our Saviour, who has perfect vision and who guides us in companionable conversation. Help us to trust Him completely.
