True Colours

“Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. When I saw it, I fell facedown, and I heard the voice of one speaking.”
Ezekiel 1:28 (NIV)

Last night my daughter and I went to watch “Over The Rainbow”, the Eva Cassidy Story. During the show the melodic song, “True Colours” was sung, accompanied with beauty and simplicity on an acoustic guitar.  As we listened, I was reminded of the rainbow in Genesis, the sign of the  promise God made through Noah.

In a speech club last year, Keith Stevenson also gave a demonstration speech about the majesty of the rainbow.  The perfect conditions of sun, rain and position that must be met before this heavenly portrait can be seen in the sky.  He talked with awe about light, prisms, and much more, highlighting some of the analogies we can learn with this phenomenon.

As I recently viewed a rainbow over my house, I could not help but thank God for his promise to humanity, his encouragement to us and his divine providence.  So no matter where we are today or what will happen in the future, in the words of the song we are told:
I see your true colors, and that’s why I love you
So don’t be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful, Like a rainbow

Jesus is the light of the world—the sun of righteousness, and provides the rain on the earth. He calls us to admire, enjoy and share his rich blessings each new day.

Dear Father, thank you for the beauty you have created in nature, and in me, through your Son. Please bless us and help our true colours show, because Jesus lives in us and loves us.
