What Is Your Mind-Set?

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,”
Hebrews 12:1 (NKJV)

When embarking on a particular quest or journey, one has to be sure of commitment to the process.

You have heard the saying that a puppy is not just for Christmas, but for life, and this saying applies to so many aspects of our lives here on God’s earth.

If I commit to marriage, I intend to see it through to the grave. I will do everything in my power to make things work. I wouldn’t have factored in a ‘get out’ clause, nor told my parents not to let my room.

If I run a race, I will have prepped for it, and have the goal or end in mind. My mindset would be to finish the race with no cheating or sneaking in a body double.

Christ set the perfect example—his mindset was dying for mankind so we could have a relationship with the Father and be heirs with Him in Eternity.

In our walk with God, in following Christ, he did advise us of the difficulty of the walk. We didn’t have to read between any lines or look for small print.

Even as I try to write this article, I am being bombarded with a plethora of ideas and struggling to discipline myself to one idea, one mindset. It’s not easy!

Lord, you know there are so many distractions, so many vices out there in the wilderness of life—help me to focus only on your gentle, but powerful voice, and be wooed on to the pathway you have outlined for me.
