The Crown Of Righteousness

“And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on the day of his return…”
2 Timothy 4:8 (NLT)

Like athletes and soldiers, we have to go into training in order to achieve our goals. We have to have a vision of hope, and keep going in spite of problems along the way. “You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ” (2 Timothy 2:3 NKJV throughout).

We are God’s children and we have to love righteousness and hate iniquity (Hebrews 1:9).

We have to make righteousness our goal. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6).

In 1 Corinthians 9:25 Paul tells us: “And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we an imperishable crown.”  And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things.

2 Corinthians 5:10 says that, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.”

“…what will be our proud reward and crown as we stand before our Lord Jesus when He returns?” (1 Thessalonians 2:19 NLT).

Will it be the Crown of Righteousness?

Thank you, Father, for showing me the prize you have in store for us. Please help me to keep my eyes on the goal and to strive to live the way you tell me. In Jesus’ name I pray.
