Let Me See

“I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,”
Ephesians 1:18 (NIV UK)

With the aid of an electron microscope you can see the marvels of nature such as the intricacies of veins in a leaf or the stunning patterns of single cells of pollens and crystals.  You can view the multiplication of germs and track the ominous invasions of a virus.  Things the human eye cannot perceive

With the aid of powerful lenses in a telescope you can see the stunning galaxies of glittering stars.  You can view the rings of Saturn and track the dramatic eruptions of sun spots.  Things the human eye cannot perceive

With the aid of the Holy Spirit you can see the miracles of God’s power and wonders of his grace.  You can track the devastating impact of sin and evil, or the gentle loving care of a mother for her baby.  You can view humanity through the lens of God’s love and see every individual for their real worth as children of God.  Things the human eye cannot perceive.

I pray with the words of a modern hymn, “Open the eyes of our hearts, Lord”, and help us to see your heart; to view one another through the lens of your love.  In Jesus name.
