A Renewing Of The Mind

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 2:5 (NKJV)

When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Saviour He lives in us through the power of the Holy Spirit and He begins to renew our minds. We are then spiritual babies in Christ and are nourished by feeding on the word of God, talking and listening to Him in prayer and meditation.

We cannot stay babies. We need to begin to make growth.  Ephesians 4:14-15 says, “that we should no longer be children…but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ.”

We cannot stay as we were. We must allow Jesus to change us through the power of the Holy Spirit so that we begin to think, talk and act as He would. The way that we overcome the lust of the flesh is to walk in the Spirit, as it says in Galatians 5:16, “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”

1 John 1:9 tells us, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” We all slip and fall at times but when we confess our sins they are wiped away by the blood of Jesus!

Our minds are in the process of being renewed and we can depend on Jesus to finish the work.  Philippians 1:6 gives us hope:  “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”

One day, the renewing of our minds will be completed!

Heavenly Father, help us to yield our lives to Jesus Christ so that He can complete His work in us.
