What Is Sin?

“Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.”
1 John 3:4 (NKJV)

If you happen to read the history of past ages, you find that there were wars, crimes, violence, misery, destruction, death, diseases, famines. It’s the same scenario of wars, violence, crimes, hopelessness and futility in this present evil world.

From the biblical stand point of view, these are the consequences of sins committed by mankind. The whole world is guilty of sin (Romans 3:23).

As the beam of sun shines through our window, we see dust particles dancing before our eyes, which we didn’t see before. Just so, when the light of the Son of God, who is the Truth, shines on our hearts, we will see the wickedness and deceitfulness of our hearts which we did not see before. 2 Corinthians 4:6 (KJV) tells us, “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

There is a very comforting scripture in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” We read in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Our hope is in Christ, through whose blood our sins are washed away, and God removes them as far as east is from the west.

Indeed, there is HOPE for all in this hopeless world. Turn to Christ and He will receive you.

Father in Heaven, thank you for your love for all mankind, providing a way of deliverance through the sacrifice of your beloved son. In His name we bow down before your throne of grace.
