The Abundant Life

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
John 10:10 (NKJV)

Abundantly means to be full and overflowing—notice Jesus came so that we might have the abundant life! This is only possible when He lives in us through the power of the Holy Spirit!

This does not mean that we will have a life without problems; in fact, we are certain to have problems! Problems can draw us closer to God when we cast them over to Him and depend on Him and the promises in His Word! Read Matthew 11:28, “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

When we put Jesus first in our lives we can have complete confidence that all our needs will be supplied! Notice Matthew 6:32-34, “For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Read also, Philippians 4:19: “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

The way to live the abundant life is to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, believe His Word, and listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit!

Father, God, we thank you that Jesus came so that we might have life and to have it more abundantly.
