God Is Love

“God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in him.”
1 John 4:16  (AMP)

Peter Ustinov the actor once declared, “Love is an act of endless forgiveness, a tender look that becomes a habit.”

When we consider the love of God, we realise that, not only is God love, but that His love is perfect, it casts out fear, it never grows cold, and it never fails.  It is tenacious and will never let go of us, or give up on us!  How great is that?

This is indeed a love worth sharing.  This love carries a message of reconciliation, a message that is all about peace, about healing the rift, about getting together in a very special relationship with our God.  It is about coming home!

Many lovers declare their love in letters…perhaps you have done that personally.  They put pen to paper and reveal the depths of the thoughts of their hearts towards the object of that love.

God is no exception–He too has declared his love in writing but in a very special place and in a unique way.  Paul shares this thought with the Church at Corinth in his second letter to them.  He says in chapter 3, verse 3, “You show and make obvious that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, not written with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.”

So we Christians are Christ’s letter to the world, a love letter calling those who read it to be reconciled to God (2 Corinthians 5:20).

God of love and compassion fill us with the excitement and the joy of delivering your message of love and reconciliation to all those whom we meet, in word and deed.
