Live Freely

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made us free from the law of sin and death.”
Romans 8:1-2 (NKJV)

Back in the Garden of Eden when God created Adam and Eve, he gave them a mind and a will and the freedom to choose, but they made the wrong choice, and we have all followed in their footsteps. So God sent his son to earth to set us free. Jesus knew this and when he came to the synagogue in Nazareth, his boyhood home, the scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to him. “He unrolled the scroll and found the place where this was written: ‘the Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favour has come.’” (Luke 4:17-19 NLT).

But Satan doesn’t want us to be free, so we have to renew our minds and change the way we behave. Renewing the mind is not easy. We have to know and understand God’s Word and be born again, and then we are freed from the bondage of Satan and become a child of God.

We find in Galatians 5:13-14, The Message Bible, “It is absolutely clear that God has called you to a free life. Just make sure that you don’t use this freedom as an excuse to do whatever you want to do and destroy your freedom. Rather, use your freedom to serve one another in love; that’s how freedom grows. For everything we know about God’s Word is summed up in a single sentence: Love others as you love yourself. That’s an act of true freedom.”

“My counsel is this: Live freely, animated and motivated by God’s Spirit.” (Galatians 5:16 MSG)

Thank you, Father, for sending your Son to set us free from the law of sin and death. Please help me to follow His example and live freely.
