A Root Of Bitterness

“Looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;”
Hebrews 12:15 (NKJV)

Every day we need to ask God to reveal to us any roots of bitterness springing up in our lives, for they are spiritual poison!

As Christians we try to follow in the steps of Jesus and to love with His love.  We are all growing into that love, but will not fully love with His Love until we leave this physical body!

Roots of bitterness are nurtured when we fail to forgive others when they offend us!  It is very important that we do continually forgive each other, knowing that we all slip, at times, in the things that we say or do.  Jesus instructs us to pray, ‘forgive us our debts as we forgive others.’  (Matthew 6:12 NKJV).

Heavenly Father, please help us to realize the importance of forgiving others and guarding against a root of bitterness.
