‘Let Us…’

“Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.”
Hebrews 10:22 (NIV)

So often we say, let us do this or that or the other.  But we belong to God.  He has called us, so “let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise.”  (Verse 23 NLT).

Hebrews 12:1 (KJV) encourages us with another ‘let us’:  “…let us lay aside every weight and the sin which does so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us”  Verse 2 (NLT) goes on to tell us, “We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith…”

Read again in Hebrews 10:24 (NLT), “Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.”

Can we say with the writer of Psalm 119, “With my whole heart have I sought you; O, let me (let us) not wander from your commandments.”  (Verse 10 NKJV).

So in conclusion, let us not give up meeting together and, “…let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and as a helmet, the hope of salvation.”  (1 Thessalonians 5:8 KJV).

Thank you, Father, for calling us to be part of your church.  Please let us not forget to meet with you every day through prayer and study, that we can be examples of what you want us to be and so through us you can add others to your church.
