Why Worry?

“…don’t get worked up by what may or may not happen tomorrow.  God will help you deal with whatever things come up when the time comes.”
Matthew 6:34 (MSG)
We worry when we try to find solutions to problems and nothing works.  Matthew 13:22 (NLT) says we, “hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life…”

Worry is disrespectful because we forget God is always there.  We worry because we don’t trust him to take care of the practical things in our lives.  Psalm 37:23-24 (NLT) says, “The Lord directs the steps of the godly.  He delights in every detail of their lives.  Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.”

Twice in Psalm 27:14 (NLT) David said, “Wait patiently for the Lord, be brave and courageous.  Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.”  And Jesus said twice in John 14:1 & 27, “Let not your heart be troubled”, and he told them the Father would send the Holy Spirit, the Comforter.

“Day by day the Lord takes care of the innocent, and they will receive an inheritance that lasts forever.”  (Psalm 37:18 NLT).

So, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.  Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.  Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.  His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”  (Philippians 4:6-7 NLT).

Let’s make sure we talk to God every day.  He wants to hear from us—don’t ever let worry choke God out of your life.

Thank you, Father, for showing me I shouldn’t worry.  You are in control and are always there for me and I can trust you to take care of me in every situation.  Thank you so much.
