Children Of God And Heirs

“I will be a Father unto you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
2 Corinthians 6:18 (KJV)

We are God’s children because, “He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word.”  (James 1:18 NLT).

Titus 3:5 (NLT) tells us God “washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.”

Our ID lies in the fact that we are all children of God and in Christ (Colossians 3:10-11), “And since we are his children, we are his heirs.” (Romans 8:17 NLT).  “The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT).

“And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, ‘Abba, Father’.  Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child.  And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.” (Galatians 4:6-7 NLT).

“Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them.  So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God.”  (1 John 3:9 NLT).

“And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children?  He said, ‘My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline, and don’t give up when he corrects you.  For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.’” (Hebrews 12:5-6 NLT).

Just as children imitate their fathers we should “Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children.”  (Ephesians 5:1 NLT).

Therefore, let us live like our Father who describes himself as love.

Thank you, Father, for accepting me into your family.  I am so grateful.  Please help me to be like you and follow the perfect example of your son, Jesus Christ.
