The Plans I Have For You

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

The scripture quoted above is part of the text of a letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the exiles in Babylon.  The same message is applicable to the world today.  God has plans to give mankind hope and a future.

When we look at our world we see corruption, wars, diseases, disasters, suffering, pain and death—a world that appears to be hopeless. But God sees our world through different eyes.  He sees hope and a bright future.

The hope of mankind has already been given and our future guaranteed!  We read in 1 Timothy 1:1 that, “Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Saviour and of Christ Jesus our hope.”  Because Jesus is our hope, our future is guaranteed. He has secured a glorious future for all of mankind.

Revelation 21:3-4 says, “And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’”

How bright is our future?  Read it in 1 Corinthians 2:9,  “However, as it is written: ‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.’”

Indeed, our future is very bright!

Lord, we thank you for the wonderful hope and future that you have secured for us through your life, death and resurrection.
