The Game Changer

“…being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 1:6 (NIV)

When I watch business programmes on television, I confess much of the terminology flies over my head, phrases like ‘affiliate marketing’, ‘arbitrage’, ‘blue chip’ and ‘black swan’ to name but a few. The business world has its own language, to say nothing of the acronyms!  One term that caught my attention was ‘the game changer.’  Apparently, the origin comes from the game of baseball – a player who turns the game around.  The business reference is to the player who turns a company around.

If ever our world needed a ‘game changer’ it is now!  Throughout the Bible we are promised that Jesus Christ will return to this earth. Acts 3:20-21 says “and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus. Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.” We don’t know when that will be but as Christians we pray constantly for the kingdom to come.

The work of the ‘game changer’ is going on today.  He has ‘begun a good work’ in His children. 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us that Jesus Christ is transforming lives: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” He is preparing His kingdom now and we are a part of it!  Despite the difficulties of today, we can be excited about our part in a virus and sin free world ruled by Christ.  Haste the day!

Prayer
Great God, thank you for the hope in Jesus Christ you have given us. We yearn for your kingdom but ask in the meantime that you aid us in our transformation becoming more and more like you.
Amen
