The Perfect Gift

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 (NKJV)

This morning I received an offer to buy an acre of land on Mars. It will cost me £9.99, which is,apparently, half price. Sounds a bit of a bargain, and it’s described as ‘the perfect gift.’.

I sat back for a minute and tried to imagine what I would do with a plot of land on Mars, but for the life of me I couldn’t think of anything. Anyway, access would be difficult.

The perfect gift? I don’t think so. I know what the perfect gift is—I’ve already received it, or Him! Jesus is the perfect gift. His freely given grace is Jesus giving Himself.  In Jesus I’m loved with a perfect love. In Jesus I receive eternal life now and immortality in the future. With Jesus I inherit all things (I assume that includes Mars!), as do all who put their trust in Jesus and give their lives to Him as He gave His for us. I didn’t have to buy it. Jesus purchased this gift for me by His blood. He gave HIMSELF! Fantastic! Absolutely fantastic. And wonderful! HALLELUJAH!

I think I’ll give the £9.99 offer a miss. I have something infinitely better. Whoever you are, the gift is for you as well. Don’t miss out on it!

Prayer
Father, you not only gave us this present physical life, you’ve promised the gift of eternal life when we give our lives to Jesus. Please open the minds of people around the world so that they too can share in this wonderful good news. And THANK YOU!
Amen
