Let’s Fly

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”
Genesis 1:1 (NKJV)

We know the above scripture very well. I often think of Genesis 1 when flying in an aeroplane, although this year we have not flown due to the Covid19 situation, hopefully we will in the future…

I used to be very scared of flying. Once, flying to Majorca, when taking off from Luton I grabbed my wife’s hand—I was scared! Now I love flying and would do it daily if I could—it’s certainly like a roller coaster sometimes!

When I am in the air, I have a sense of peace. Usually we fly in the day and I insist in a window seat with one of my children. Sitting there gazing out of the window, thinking about life, and our Great God who created everything, once above the clouds you don’t see much except maybe the odd plane in the distance or the sea or land between the clouds.

Our God did great things! He created everything above and below. Our God is just amazing, the sky, the sun, the sea, the land, everything is done by him, and he created it all! What an amazing thought. Sometimes I pray while flying and thank the Lord that we can have an opportunity to come to him and to thank him for the minds of people who can design huge jets that can fly in the air at 40,000 feet. I also pray for safety and protection. Not so keen on turbulence, mind!

As we go forward into this year, let’s thank God for the world around us. Yes there is a lot going on and sad times, but we all know that the future will just be amazing, just like sitting on the plane and taking it all in.

Our Great God, we thank you for your world, we thank you for your creation and your love for us. We thank you we can travel and see different parts of your world. We are truly grateful for everything you do for us.
