The Incarnate Word

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him…”
John 1:1-3 (NKJV)

I have heard of the transmigration of the soul through many incarnations before it is released into a bliss. The word for that is Nirvana. I do not want to waste my time to know more about Nirvana, because there is a better understanding I have of the Incarnation of the Son of God. The Incarnate Word was Jesus, who became flesh (John 1:14). This was prophesied in Isaiah 7:14, which says, “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.” This was fulfilled as we read in Matthew 1:18 & 23, “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit…’Behold a virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,’ which is translated, ‘God with us.’”

This was one of the greatest events in the history of the universe, but the birth of Jesus was only revealed to the lowly shepherds of Bethlehem and the gentiles of the far east. God did not reveal it to the Sanhedrin or the scribes and the lawyers, the religious leaders of the time. The wise men enquired of the King of the Jews and presented Him with gold , frankincense and myrrh when Jesus was about two years old. If God wanted to announce His birth to all the world, he could have sent angels to each nation, but in his profound wisdom He did not. Even today the majority of the world does not know Jesus Christ. God does what pleases Him, as we find in Psalm 115:3.

The Incarnation of the Son of God is sublime and we cannot comprehend fully its sublimity, until the Holy Spirit enlightens our eyes and reveals the deep things of God. Without the Incarnation of the Word, there is no salvation. We read in Acts 4:12, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” That is, salvation is only through Jesus, the Saviour of the world, who became sin for us. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John14:6). This Incarnate Word is coming as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. All in Christ will meet Him in the clouds and be with Him forever. Come quickly Lord Jesus.

Father God, please send Jesus quickly in His glory and power to bring peace on earth and to judge the nations in righteousness and equity. In Jesus’ name I pray.
