Cauldron of Hatred

“Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.”
Genesis 4:8 (NKJV)

This is the first murder recorded—a hate killing. After Adam and Eve were driven out of the garden of Eden, Cain and Abel were born. Then a tragedy, and the innocent blood of Abel cries out of the ground. The hatred spiralled out from the dawn of history. Today areas of this world have become a cauldron of hatred. As we watch the news, no one can deny it. I am not surprised, for there is nothing new under the sun as Solomon so famously said in Ecclesiastes 1:9, “That which has been is what will be, that which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun.”

Today we see a world in disarray with anarchy both in so called ‘civilized’ and in underdeveloped nations. Hatred spreads like a wild fire, engulfing the entire globe. The world is blinded and deceived by Satan the Devil and it does not know it (Revelation 12:9). Even the leaders of Christianity are at loggerheads with respect to their conflicting doctrines. Why wars? In James 4:1 we read, “Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?” Jeremiah reveals that “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it? (Jeremiah 17:9). Isaiah adds further details in Isaiah 59:6-8, “And the act of violence is in their hands. Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood; their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths. The way of peace they have not known, and there is no justice in their ways…whoever takes that way shall not know peace.”

Today many nations have piled up nuclear weapons, biological agents and nerve gases so destructive that mankind could be blotted out many times over. We have reminders of atom bombs dropped on Hiroshima, and Nagasaki in Japan reduced to rubble, where many lives were lost. Jesus describes the end time in Matthew 24:22, “And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved, but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.” At the end time, hatred that is seething in this world will sprout out with great fury and venom that no one will be able to stop. But Jesus Christ will quell it. Then wars will cease and killings will stop and hatred will be replaced with love, joy, peace and unity during the righteous reign of Jesus the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. As we await that glorious time, the solution for us now, today, is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength and love your fellow man as you love yourself. That is, to be a Christian.

Abba Father, thank you for showing us the way to love and not to hate. In Jesus name I pray and praise you, for to you belong glory and honour and power forevermore.
