Know That I Am God

“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. I am the Lord.”
Psalm 46:10 and Isaiah 45:5 (NKJV)

It is the will of God that we know Him. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth and all things in it. But how can we know Him? He has revealed Himself to mankind so humans have no excuse. In Romans 1:20-22, we learn, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead [divine nature, deity] so that they are without excuse…they did not glorify Him as God…and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools…” It is true to this day that Satan the god of this world has blinded their minds, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Jesus, who is the image of God, should shine on them (2 Corinthians 4:4).

Christ in His prayer confidently prayed in John 17:3, “This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” Also we read in 1 Corinthians 8:4-6, “there is no other God but one. For even if there are so-called gods…yet for us there is one God, the Father…and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.” People all over the world have their religions and gods of their imaginations. As the Apostle Paul spoke to the Athenians: “…in all things you are most religious; for as I was passing through…I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD…the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you” (Act17:22-23). Jesus said to Philip that anyone who had seen Him, had seen the Father (John14:7-11).

God is not far from any one of us. We have to seek Him diligently with all our hearts, “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your hearts” (Jeremiah 29:13). And in 24:7, “Then I will give them a new heart to know Me, that I am the Lord, and they shall be My people and I will be their God.”

I do not look down upon those who worship other gods. For I was like the Athenians believing in gods and goddesses whom my parents worshipped; and there are so many to choose from in Hinduism. But not any more!. For me there is one God the Father and Jesus Christ my Saviour in whom I believe with all my heart and trust Him fully. The God I worship is Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient. He is the Alpha and Omega. The Sovereign Eternal Almighty God Who rules supreme. Hallelujah! Praise Him with all our hearts. Let us be still, take time and know Him personally and have intimate relationship. Your life will be changed immensely.

Thank You, Father, for revealing Yourself to us. Help us to draw closer to You. It is a great privilege to know You the only True God. In Jesus’ name I pray and praise You.
