Beloved of God

“To all who are in Rome, [any where in the world] beloved of God, called to be saints: grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Romans 1:7 (NKJV)

Have you noticed? We are called saints, set apart and the beloved of God in Christ. God loves us with the same love as He loved His Beloved Son, Jesus (John 17:23). Jesus Christ is the beloved of the Father and it is also true of Christians. We are God’s beloved children indeed. It is incredible, we can scarcely comprehend or take it in, but that is the love of God for us. Ephesians 2:4-9 says “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

If you are not excited about your calling, God reminds us through the Apostle John in 1 John 3:1-2, “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God…Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”

We are the apple of God’s eyes. “…He chose us before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace…” (Ephesians 1:4-7).

Let the Word of God enlighten our eyes to the glorious truth of our calling as we read in 1 Peter 2:9-10, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” I do not have words to add to this wonderful truth. Let us stand in awe of our loving heavenly Father whose great love surpasses our appreciation.

Abba, Father, Your inexhaustible love surrounds us everywhere we go, for You are the Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent God Almighty. Worthy are You of glory and honour and reverence. In Jesus name I pray and praise you and bow down before Your throne of grace.
