Is Life Worth Living?

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
John10:10 (NKJV)

Life is worth living because God purposed it for His glory, as we read in Isaiah 43:7, “Everyone who is called by My name, whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him.”

Christ, our Saviour, is risen and there is no reason to doubt about our resurrection. 1 Corinthians 15:22 says, “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.” Jesus said to Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live” (John 11:25). When He comes in His glory, He shall transform us, as we are assured in Philippians 3:20-21, “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body.”

However, life is not a bed of roses—there are thorns underneath. That means we will have to face many fiery trials. Romans 8:18 is very comforting, “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Also it is confirmed in 2 Corinthians 4:17-18, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

We have full confidence in our Saviour who gave His life to give us eternal life. Eventually Revelation 21:4 will become a reality: “God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Life is worth living whatever we may have to face in this transitory life. The end is glorious. Praise God, all you people of all the nations of the earth.

Abba, Father in heaven, I thank You and praise You for Your great love in giving us life that we may have an eternal life of glory through Your Son, our Saviour, Jesus, who is the hope of our glory, promising abundant life to those who believe in Him. In His name I pray.
