Get The Whole Picture

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. All things were made by Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.”
John 1:1-3 (NKJV)

Recently a friend from the USA sent me a story. I am paraphrasing it here: He wrote that a pastor was preparing a sermon, but his 5 years old daughter was pestering him for attention. Exasperated, he tore a map of the world that was in his study into pieces and told her to put it together and then he would be with her. To his surprise she came back within 5 minutes with the whole map. He asked, “Sweety, how did you do that when you do not know the names of all the continents?” Her answer was, “At the back there was the picture of Jesus and I put His full picture together.” He profusely thanked his daughter and prepared the powerful sermon revealing the Lord Jesus from the Scriptures.

Do you get the picture? Of course no picture can truly reveal the Divine Deity whose countenance shines like the sun in its full strength. But we can come to understand Jesus by an overview recorded in the pages of our Bible. There is a picture of God gained from Genesis to Revelation.

The God spoken of in the Old Testament was Jesus Christ who appeared to Adam and Eve and later to Abraham. He wrestled with Jacob and led Israel out of Egypt (1 Corinthians.10:1-4; Hebrews 7).

It was He who became flesh and dwelt among us as we read in John1:14. He was taken and delivered by lawless hands to be crucified and put to death on the cross. God raised him up, and we are redeemed by the precious blood of Christ, who is our hope of the future.

All power and authority was given to Jesus (Matthew 28:18) and today He is our High Priest, the Lamb of God, slain before the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8).

Our Lord Jesus Christ is revealed in the Old Testament, and in the New Testament. Let us put all the scriptures in the right places to get the whole Picture of Jesus in His fullness and see Him as our Saviour, our High Priest and elder brother. He is the Alpha and Omega. Let us search the scriptures and know Him intimately and personally and see Him in His Glory, Holiness, Majesty, Power and Perfection by the eyes of faith—our King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Get the complete picture. Christ is dwelling in you.

Abba, Father, thank You for Your Word revealing distinctly who our Saviour is and His love for all mankind—enlightening our spiritual eyes to see Him. I pray and praise You in Jesus’ name.
