What I Preached

“So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.”
Act 20:32 (NKJV)

In February 2018, I was in India and had the privilege to preach to a local congregation in a village church—to the brethren who gathered from various villages nearby. I wanted to share with you in Day by Day what I brought to them: I began by saying, “Let us praise the Lord God Almighty, our Father in heaven and our Saviour Jesus Christ, the Redeemer who is alive; and the Holy Spirit whom He sent to teach and lead us unto all the truth.” What a glorious blessing to worship our God who has chosen us as His special people to come before His throne of grace, for by grace we are saved through Faith. Time is quickly passing by, bringing us closer and closer to the second coming of Jesus Christ as our King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We are living in a present evil world. Perilous times are upon us and it is going to get worse according to 2 Timothy 3:1-5, & 13.

But we have Scriptures inspired by God that would make us wise unto salvation through the faith in Jesus Christ (verses 14-17). Holy Scriptures build us up spiritually as we hunger and make it our daily delight. What happens if we do not eat physical food? We would die eventually. The Apostle Paul commended the word of God and preached it. In 1 Corinthians 2:4-5 he says, “My speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.”

Let the Holy Spirit speak to us by His power and reveal the deep things of God enlightening our eyes to understand what God has prepared for us. What can we offer to God? In Matthew 2:11 we find wise men brought gifts to the Child, Jesus. “And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshipped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense and myrrh.”

I proceeded to show from the scriptures a number of things we can offer to God, even though all things belong to our Creator who created heavens and the earth and every thing in it. Let us praise our Sovereign God Almighty and worship Him in Spirit and Truth, who has called us to be His Royal Priesthood, a holy nation as we read in 1 Peter 2:9.

Holy Father, thank You for calling us to worship You in spirit and truth, and for helping us to know who You are and who we are in relationship with You. I am very grateful for Your Word which is able to build us up to be strong in Jesus Christ our Saviour and High Priest. In His name I pray and praise and adore You, for You are worthy of praise and worship forever.
