Our Unchanging And Everlasting God

“The Lord shall reign to eternity and beyond.”
Exodus 15:18 (AMP)

Can you imagine if God was unpredictable and changed His mind on a whim? What if His compassion and faithfulness failed? Thank God, He is immutable, His counsel stands, He is the Holy God who inhabits eternity (Isaiah 57:15). We read in Psalm 90:2, “Before the mountains were born or before You had given birth to the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are [the eternal] God.”

He is always the same, as we read in Malachi 3:6, “For I am the Lord, I do not change…” and Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ is [eternally changeless, always] the same yesterday and today and forever.” He is dependable—“ God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken and will He not make it good and fulfill it?” We are assured that what He has planned, He will bring to pass. What He has promised, He will fulfill.

We are living in perilous times. Look at the world as it is hurtling towards destruction of the human race. The evil and wickedness, the atrocities, the famine and disease, the suffering of little children caught up in wars, makes me sick. The world is in a mess. In spite of knowledge explosion, mankind has lost its sanity.

But I look unto God and behold His glory. He is the same in His infinite wisdom, the same in His infinite righteousness, the same in His perfect holiness, the same in His unending love, the same in His mighty power and majesty. There can be nothing more glorious than this truth about our Father in heaven, the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour and the Holy Spirit our Helper and Guide. What a wonderful God we have, who is holy, dependable, unchanging and faithful, who inhabits Eternity. He is worthy of our praise. Let my soul bless His Holy Name for ever and ever. Amen.

God of grace, our Father in heaven, thank You for revealing this truth about Your immutability, your immortality, your faithfulness in dealing with us as Your children, loving us as You have loved Jesus. In the name of Jesus, my Saviour, I pray and praise You.
