Gospel of Jesus Christ

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.”
Romans 1:16 (NKJV)

The Word of God is Dynamite. There is mighty Power in the Word of God. In Genesis 1, God spoke and the earth was fully restored. And the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the Power of God unto salvation, for Christ Himself is the centre of the Gospel—the Incarnate Word who came to save sinners as the Lamb of God (John 1:29). Without Him there is NO salvation. In Him the grace of God was made manifest and the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith.

Salvation delivers us from the guilt of sin, its power and the pollution it brings in our hearts (Romans 8:1-3 & 6:14). It is a complete deliverance from the power of the Devil who tries unceasingly to destroy us but cannot touch us (1 John 5:18). Our salvation is guaranteed—this is confirmed by the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 1:13-14. Should we be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ? Paul empathetically says No in our header scripture—it is the power of God to salvation. He encouraged Timothy to preach the Gospel: “Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God” (2 Timothy 1:8).

To understand the need of salvation we have to enter the Garden of Eden, where our perfect parents sinned and through the Fall brought death upon all mankind. They had a choice to have life eternal by eating of the fruit of the Tree of life or to choose death by eating the forbidden fruit of the tree of good and evil. God knew of their choice before the foundation of the world and, through the determined counsel and fore-knowledge, allowed Jesus to be crucified by lawless hands spoken of in Acts 2:22-24 going on to say “Whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.”

Through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the Power of God unto salvation, we are saved by His grace though faith and are made to “sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus; that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus, for it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2:6-9).

That is the good news which the world needs to hear through the preaching of the Gospel.

Holy Father, I thank You for the salvation offered to us by Your grace. I am grateful for the Gospel of Your Son revealed to us through the Apostle Paul, which he proclaimed to all creatures.
