Paradise On Earth

“Then the Lord God said, ‘Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever’—therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken.”
Genesis 3:22-23 (NKJV)

It must have been the most beautiful garden on the earth—a paradise. There, in peace and tranquility, our parents talked and walked with God; but then they sinned and were thrown out. In Ezekiel 28:12-16, a passage generally thought to refer to Lucifer, we find Lucifer was in Eden before them, “You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom, perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God…anointed cherub…You became filled with violence within, and you sinned; therefore I cast you as a profane thing out of the mountain of God;”

Paradise on earth: Is it a fantasy or is it a reality? John Milton, an English poet, wrote a poem about Paradise Lost, referring to Eden. Many philosophers and great thinkers have pondered over it too, and even today, many different cultures talk about it. No one can describe it. There are still many exotic places of beauty on earth, even though mankind has polluted our planet. But a change is coming when the whole earth will be like Eden. In Isaiah 51:3 we find it described. Isaiah writes, “For the Lord will comfort Zion, He will comfort all her waste places; He will make her wilderness like Eden, And her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness will be found in it, thanksgiving and the voice of melody.”

Presently the world is filled with violence, wickedness and killings, and hurtling toward destruction; declining rapidly into immorality and indecency. However, some goodness is displayed in times of natural disasters. But a better future is prophesied by Isaiah in Isaiah 11:1-9 and 2:1-4 where he says there will be peace, justice, righteousness, and faithfulness; children will play with wild animals and no harm will come to them. Earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. There will be no more wars and the weapons of mass destruction will be turned into plowshares and pruning hooks or agricultural implements.

Paradise is where God is. It will be a reality and no more a fantasy. Revelation 2:7 says, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.” Further, we read in Revelation 22:1-2 that a pure river of water of life will flow from the throne of God and of the Lamb: and on either side of the river, the tree of life yielding its fruit. You can be sure, Paradise Lost will be restored.

Father in heaven, You conceived this plan in Your mind to put us in the garden of Eden, to be with You for eternity in Your presence forever. I praise and thank You in Jesus’ name.
