The Royal Wedding

“Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.”
Revelation 19:7 (NKJV)

Weddings have been part of human existence from the time God created Adam and Eve. Jesus and His disciples were invited to a wedding in Cana. According to Jewish custom, they celebrated weddings with dancing, wining and dining. It was here Jesus turned water into wine, which was His first miracle. It was the best wine in the opinion of the master of the feast.

Since weddings are on my mind, let us consider the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and his bride, Meghan, that is scheduled on 19th May 2018. Preparations are going full swing in every minute detail. The guest list has been drawn up and wedding invitation cards are printed already with the Royal Insignia clearly visible. Even the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, had his hip operation carried out so that he would be recovered by the time of the wedding of his grandson. How much grandeur and pageantry and pomp will be displayed, I cannot tell, but from the previous Royal Weddings I have watched, I suggest that it will be worth watching on TV [modern technology is wonderful, providing full colour in HD] and share the joy of the groom and the bride, soaking up the atmosphere of the day with thousands upon thousands of people thronging the route of procession. My sincere prayer is for them and wish them a happy future together, for they make a lovely couple. God bless them.

This reminds me of a future Royal Wedding of the Lamb of God. In Revelation 19:9 the apostle John writes, “Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” The Church is referred to as the Bride of Christ, and Ephesians 5:25-27 says as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it to sanctify and then to present it to Himself. All in Christ are invited to have a part in this Grand Wedding of all Weddings of King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

About this future glorious event and experience, I dare not attempt to describe, but it is worth waiting for, because it will be etched on our minds for all Eternity.

Father in heaven, as we look forward to the wedding of Prince Harry and his bride Meghan, help us, and them, to wait eagerly for the Wedding of the Lamb of God, Your Son, Jesus. In His name I pray.
