Truth Does Not Change

“Sanctify them by Your truth. Your Word is Truth.”
John 17:17 (NKJV)

The Father has sanctified us by His Truth, for He Has answered all His Son’s prayers. Jesus said, “I am the way, the Truth, and the life” (John 14:6). And according to Hebrews 13:8, Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Our heavenly Father is also God of Truth. In James 1:17-18 he writes, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of Truth…” Jesus Himself said, “The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” And the Apostle Peter confirmed it, saying “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:63 & 68). Isaiah also reminds us that the grass withers and flower fades, but the word of God stands forever (Isaiah 40:8).

Recently I spent 6 weeks in a village home in India where I had a lot of time to meditate on God’s Word. As a result, this Day by Day was conceived in my mind. As it says in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” to thoroughly equip us for every good work. I preached in English to a village church nearby our village, and through a translator the brethren read the scriptures in their own native language—God’s Truth is Truth in any language.

Truth does not change. But through Amos God warns that He will send famine not of bread but of hearing His words (Amos 8:11). Let us heed and feed upon the word of God, just as Jeremiah ate the words of God and it was his joy and rejoicing of his heart (Jeremiah 15:16. Job treasured the word of God and he considered it more precious than his daily food (Job 23:12).

“The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times,” as we find in Psalm 12:6. To God be the glory and majesty and power, Who has preserved the Word of Truth for us, though the enemy tried to destroy it.

Father in heaven, thank You for the Truth revealed to us. I pray and praise You in the name of Jesus, Who Himself is the Truth and the Lord Who does not change.
