Smile Please!

“A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.”
Proverbs 17:22 (NKJV)

When I was eight years old (just a few years ago or maybe a few more!) my mother gave me a Bible. I wrote the following verse in the front of the Bible:

Give a smile as you pass along and it is worth ten million pounds!
Cheer someone who is feeling down and it is worth ten million pounds!
Lift up those who are down and tell them of their worth in Jesus and the earth cannot repay!
Trust in Jesus day by day and you will surely find the way.

A smile has no language barrier. Everyone benefits from a smile. I found a quotation that says “Sometimes your joy is the source of your smile, but sometimes your smile can be the source of your joy.” (Thich Nhat Hanh). “The act of smiling activates neural messaging that benefits your health and happiness…your smile is actually contagious.” (There’s Magic In Your Smile by Sarah Stevenson in Phychology Today June 25, 2012)

A smile says you are important to me and I care about YOU! Every person is of great importance!! They are so important that Jesus was willing to die on a cross so that everyone could be with Him for all eternity. As the well known verse says in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

A smile is of great value and it is something we can all afford to give away!

Father God, thank you for caring for us all so much . Please help us to care for each other.
