God’s Reality

For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.”
1 Corinthians 15:22 (NIVUK)

One of the world’s most eminent and highly respected scientists shares his thoughts on death in an exclusive interview with the Guardian newspaper: “I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail. There is no heaven or afterlife for broken down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark.” In his book, co-authored and published in 2010, “The Grand Design”, he asserted that there is no need for a Creator to explain the existence of the universe. “Our universe and its laws appear to have a design that both is tailor-made to support us, and if we are to exist, leaves little room for alteration.” The authors also claim: “It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the universe going.”

We read in the Bible that “in these last days he [God] has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.” (Hebrews 1:2) To believe what the Bible teaches about the universe and heaven or the afterlife requires a very special gift—that of faith.

The anchor scripture states that “ in Adam all die.” That is the natural end for every human being—physical death. The verse goes on to explain that the same “all” who died in Adam, will “in Christ” be made alive—will live again! There is hope for all of humanity because Jesus has conquered death. This is no fairy story for people who are afraid of the dark. It is God’s reality. “For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death”. (I Corinthians 15:25-26).

Thanking you, Father, for sending to us your Son, Jesus our Lord, who has by the Holy Spirit accomplished your will and saved us from death. In his name we pray.
