Love Your Neighbour

“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”
John 15 : 12 (NKJV)

Recently in studying the topic of love I was inspired to put my conclusions in verse as follows:

God’s Word reveals the way we should live, and how we love our neighbour too.
God’s there to help as we obey Him. His Spirit will guide us in all that we do.

Forgiving, patient, merciful, kind. That’s how our God deals with us each day.
We should reflect His generous love by treating our neighbour this Godly way.

By drawing close to Jesus, our Lord, we’ll show compassion to those in need.
We’ll care for those who don’t know God and strive to respect them in word and deed.

When Jesus sacrificed His life, the strength and depth of His love shone through.
He left a new commandment to keep. To “Love one another as I’ve loved you.”

Romans 5:5 says that “the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Jesus in his final prayer before his ultimate act of love in dying for our sins (John 17:26), prayed to the Father “that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.” That is, Christ in us, our hope of glory (Colossians 1:27).

Father, thank you for the help you give us as we try to follow Jesus’ perfect example of love.
