Eternally Secure In Christ

“…having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.”
Colossians 2:14 (NKJV)

As Christians, we know that we are saved, yet some still wonder and worry about eternal security. Prior to salvation, we all had a spiritual problem. We were born with a nature inclined to rebel against God and we were all under God’s judgment. But the day we trusted in Christ, our condition was changed from condemnation and death to forgiveness and life.

Does our behaviour play a role in keeping our salvation? Jesus says, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life” (John 5:24)

What a wonderful promise! Our new status as God’s children is permanent because it is based on what Jesus has done. While our behaviour may not always reflect our new nature, any mistakes we make do not jeopardize our salvation. It is not our actions, but Christ’s work on the cross that changed everything. And nothing can undo a spiritual rebirth that came about through faith in Jesus!

In John 6:37 Jesus says, “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.” When we depend on what Jesus has done for us our eternal security is SURE!

Prayer
Father God, thank you for sending Jesus to pay the price for all of our sins. Help us all to realize that when we depend on what Jesus has done for us the price for all of our sins has been paid in full.
Amen
